Therapist
Abigail Leis is a Licensed Professional Counselor who is passionate about helping individuals move toward a more authentic and meaningful life. Raised in a family of educators and mental health professionals, she felt called to support others from a young age. Abigail earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and went on to complete her Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at the University of Kansas. Her clinical training includes work in university counseling centers and research-based clinics, including Washburn University’s counseling center, KU’s Hope Through Strengths Positive Psychotherapy Clinic, and the Counseling Laboratory for Exploration of Optimal States (CLEOS). She works from a strengths-based, person-centered approach, incorporating evidence-based interventions from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support each client’s unique path.
Abigail is especially interested in the intersection of creativity, identity, and mental well-being. She enjoys working with individuals navigating life transitions, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, and self-acceptance. Her work is grounded in the belief that healing happens in a space of safety, collaboration, and curiosity. Outside of her work as a therapist, Abigail enjoys spending time with friends and family, traveling, and experimenting with ceramics. She values creativity both in and outside the therapy room, and brings warmth, presence, and compassion to her work with clients.
